I have been working as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist since 1996.
I have undertaken specialist training to provide trauma therapy and I work with adults who have experienced trauma or sexual abuse and who want therapy for recovery.
My tertiary training and supervised clinical work since 1997 more recently includes an emotion focused therapy approach.
I was employed as a sexuality counsellor and sex therapist at the Wellington Sexual Health Service for more than 15 years. I studied adult sexual function, treatments and therapy with The Australian Society of Sex Educators, Researchers and Therapists.
I have worked in the adult mental health service as a nurse and was a psychotherapist in the Wellington Eating Disorder Service.
My initial psychotherapy training was in Transactional Analysis, Gestalt Therapy and Object Relations.
My MSc. thesis integrated theory about pain, trauma, couples therapy, sex therapy and psychotherapy to describe talking therapy with a client wanting to resolve experiences of vulvodynia. I offer a mind-body or whole person approach in therapy when it is relevant.
I am trained as a Tertiary Teacher and enjoy providing learning experiences for community, religious and professional groups. I am experienced in creating questionnaires to evaluate learning programs.
